Week 16

Week 16: Avocado

Average size: 5 in, 3.5 oz
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, M will double weight and add inches to his length. Right now, M's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 to 5 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. M's legs are much more developed, M's head is more erect than it has been, and the eyes have moved closer to the front of the head. The ears are close to their final position, too. Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. The patterning of the scalp has begun, though M's locks aren't recognizable yet. M's even started growing toenails. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, M's heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as the baby continues to develop.

  1. This is Aunt Kass, On the sex of Baby M. I would put in a vote for a little girl because we need another great-grand girl but it really doesn't make any difference.I will love M no matter what sex M is. You should of had a doesn't matter category.
