It has finally happened...

Life as we know it will soon be changing! The Lady Bug is starting to take steps. She has been pulling up since the first time we put her in her crib.
She has been crawling for a while now.

She even started standing on her own without holding on to anything at 9 months. Now she has finally started to do it... take those first few steps without holding on. She has been taking one or two for a few weeks here and there.

Finally she is getting pretty brave and actually taking more of them and doing it more often. So watch out world cause here she comes! On another note I can't believe she will be a year old in just a few short weeks. Where did the time go?

Merry Christmas Card 2011!

We usually do our Christmas Card photo taking on Thanksgiving, but not this year! I was so far behind schedule we didn't take pictures until 12-15! It is any wonder that we got cards done at all. We had a fun mini photo shoot in front of our tree. Hope you like.

Best of the Best Tournament

The Boss just moved up to yellow belt in karate and has been very excited about it. This weekend we had a second tournament. We spent more time practicing at home this time. The first time he was very timid in the ring. In class he has to go against the older kids because they go by height. You would think this is a good thing and will help him eventually but he is getting a little discouraged about not winning at sparring. We try our best to encourage him to just try his hardest and be proud. The tournament this weekend was a best of two matches. If you lost the first you got a bronze medal, if you won the first but lost the second you got a silver medal and if you won both you got a TWO FOOT Trophy. All the kids wanted one of those trophies. We gave the Boss some extra mojo with a couple of temporary tatoos. He did so much better this time. He was much more aggressive. I have watched the video a couple of times and I am very proud of him. He did so well. Unfortunately the other boy got lucky and landed 1 more kick than he did and he lost out on the trophy. Lets just say he was very disappointed but nothing a little pizza couldn't fix. He is ready to start fresh in January.

Waiting his turn to be placed in a ring.

The boy he would end up sparring with.

Starting to get his gear on.

Ready and waiting.

USM - Conference USA Championship

Today we went to the C-USA Championship football game against University of Houston. It was a great game Southern Miss won. UofH was ranked #6 and would have gone to a BCS game if USM wouldn't have won. It was the Lady Bug's first football game and it was a great one.

Breaks My Heart

This really hit home for me so I have to share it. It just breaks my heart that my children didn't get to have a relationship with their Daddy's parents.

Both of them wanted nothing more than to have grandkids. Not long after we had the Boss, Daddy's parents were both taken away rather suddenly within 3 months of each other. They adored him and I often think of how things would be if they were still here. They would be so proud. The Boss was given his nickname by his Paw Paw who from day 1 called him "The Boss". The Boss shed tears the last time we went to the cemetery because he wishes he knew them and could remember them. My Lady Bug will only know them through pictures and they will never have laid earthly eyes on her. It is always harder during the holiday season when you think of those you love who have passed on. To Maw Maw and Paw Paw Vige...You are greatly missed!

Happy Baptism Day!

November 13th is the Boss's Baptism Day. This year he had a pumpkin rice crispy treat to celebrate from his Auntie Shyra!

LSU vs BAMA

We enjoyed having some friends over to watch the LSU vs BAMA game. The Reno clan has two boys. B is a year younger than the Boss and their newest addition is just 2 weeks younger than the Lady Bug. It was great having them over. We enjoyed some yummy chicken and sausage gumbo. The boys enjoyed playing and the little ones had fun just hanging out and playing with toys and poking eachother. Here are two pics of the kids.

Aren't they too cute?
I know the boys don't look excited in this picture, but they were watching Transformers and it was late in the evening.

Carnevil Costume Party

A couple of friends from the Rotary club and the Mardi Gras Krewe have a Halloween party every year. This was the first time we were able to make it. Granny volunteered to watch the kiddos while we went out for a bit. I have been sick all week with an ear infection so when Daddy asked for suggestions from a patient he suggested that I go as a sick girl and Daddy go as a Sudafed box. I thought a Kleenex box would be more appropriate. So here is a picture of our lovely costumes.
We had a good time. There were lots of good costumes but I think ours was the most interesting and got lots of compliments. Granny helped me make the logo and we put the box together. The hat was my creation.

At the party our friends had a great haunted house and they had everything decorated to the nines.
After we left there we stopped by another friends crib. She had just a few friends over hanging out. The ladies were talking and the boys were playing dominoes. It was a fun party too.

Royalty

I just had to share this picture! I was folding clothes in the Lady Bugs room while she was hanging out in the crib and the Boss was entertaining us. He decided that she needed a crown to make her look like the royalty she is. I think the picture is cute.

Sumo in the House

There comes a time in every boys life when he must become a man... I mean wear a cup. So the Boss has a karate tournament this coming weekend and the boys are required to wear a mouth guard and a cup. So as most of you know I grew up in a house full of women. No cups for us. Lets just say I was a little lost in the cup shopping department. I luckily got the right things, a cup and an athletic supporter. (If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter!) They only had youth and larger so I didn't have too much choice. We get home from our shopping trip and we checked with Daddy to see if we bought the correct items and fit. The Boss tries it on... he immediately dances around the living room proclaiming himself a sumo wrestler! I couldn't disagree with his description of what it looked like on that one. Well maybe the fact that he is a very lean 65lbs and not 400lbs but he was in a pretty similar outfit to what the sumo wrestlers wear.

Awards Ceremony

Today the Boss had his first 9 weeks awards ceremony. A note came home that he was getting an award. I wasn't sure if I should go or not but I figured that I would check it out. They gave out two types of awards. The Patriot Award and Attendance Awards. Not sure what the Patriot award was but I think it is for recognized behavior maybe. Although the Boss didn't get the Patriot award I have been pleased with his behavior reports from school He still has work to do but he is doing better than I expected. So I bet you figured out that the Boss got an Attendance award. I was actually surprised that he hadn't missed any days with the broken arm and all. He was just a little late on one day and left early on another. Not too shabby. Here are two quick pictures from the day. One is of them waiting for the awards to start.

He is in a green striped shirt and the other was after I had to run up and get a quick pic cause he forgot to stand up for a photo op after he got his award. He promptly sat right down so I didn't get a pic. So he doesn't look thrilled in the pic cause his class was leaving when I took it.

It's Gotten Cooler

This last week has been some lovely Fall weather. We have all enjoyed the temperature change. It has been cool enough in the mornings for light jackets and a little warmer clothing. I have had to bundle Lady Bug a couple of times on our walk with the Boss to school. Here she is wearing the cute sock monkey hat Granny gave her. I think it will be awhile before it really fits but it serves its purpose and is still cute.

I have also become accutely aware of another fact this week. It is time to buy the Boss some pants. Too cool for shorts and his pants from last Spring are high waters on him or completely don't fit. Guess we will be hitting the store soon.

Sproutlett

Inspired by a friend's blog and how she puts her daughter's hair in these little itty bitty ponytails she likes to call sproutletts. I thought I would give it a shot on Lady Bug. It turned out really cute. Not sure if you can see it in this picture though.

Siblings

This morning we were in the living room and the Boss was entertaining the Lady Bug! Before I knew it they were doing this...

I had to grab my camera cause it just melted my heart. The closest thing I had was my cell phone and the flash didn't work so it was really dark. However in the modern days of photoshop and picture programs I was able to sort of salvage it. You can atleast see it now.
That aside I hurried and set the flash and took another one. Still cute but not like the first one.

I hope they always stay just like this with eachother.

9 Month's Old

My little Lady Bug is 9 months old today. Hard to believe it has been 9 months. This morning we went to her doctor for her checkup. She is right on track in all of her gross motor skills. She crawls all over the place. She pulls up on everything. She cruises along the furniture. She is eating table food and absolutely loves it. In fact at daycare they said that she will finish her plate and then troll for others food as well. If you eat anything around her she gives you the "Where is mine?" look. She still doesn't have any teeth yet but they are coming you can see them. We are working on her sleeping habits. Things got all messed up when she got sick about a month ago and now we need to get her back to being the great sleeping baby we know she can be.
The Doctor said she will probably be our basketball player. Tall and lean.
Weight 18.7lbs (44%)
Length 29" (92%) Note she is only 5/8in shorter than the Boss was at 9 months.
She got two shots today! Her last HepB and a Flu shot. She did pretty well. Cried a little and gave the shot lady a dirty look for giving her a shot.
Overall it was a good visit.
