Let's Go Roller Skating!

Last night the Boss's school had a family skate night. He decided that since he could ice skate that he should be able to wear roller blades instead of traditional skates. Before last night he had never actually skated on the rink floor. He had only rolled around a little on the carpet the couple of times he had gone to the rink with Day Care. He did a great job last night. I was very proud of him. He went round and round and only fell a few times. He was really getting the hang of it. He enjoyed hanging out with two kids from his class. The little girl even tried to hold his hand and skate a couple of times. At the end of the night he even asked me if one night he and I could go skating together. I used to love to skate when I was younger! I think we might have to make a Mother-Son Skate/Date night.

Top Kick

The Boss attended his third karate tournament. All of the yellow belts lined up at 1pm by age and height. The Boss was the tallest one in his age group which means...he sparrs last. So his buddy was one of the first to go and he was one of the last of the yellow belt. There was almost 45 minutes in between the two. Funny thing was they ended up being assigned to the same ring in two separate groups. For this tournament they gave first and second place trophies. The Boss and his buddy both got Top Kick First Place trophies. Both did well and kept us on our toes going 2-2 before winning the final point each. Great job boys!

Go Texan Day

On Go Texan Day I caught the kids sharing some brotherly/sisterly love. The Boss wore his school shirt with a cowboy vest and his boots and the Lady Bug sported a Winnie the Pooh western shirt.

Hockey Star

Yesterday the Boss tried out Hockey! He and one of his best buddies had a blast. They talked about it nervously for a week before hand because neither one can regular skate much less ice skate. When we got there they got their gear and headed to the dressing room. 25 minutes later out they came in full gear holding on to the wall for dear life. Neither one could walk in the skates at first. By the time it was their turn on the ice both had figured out standing and rudimentary walking but not well. I wish I had my camera but I had forgotten it and my phone had died so I was at the mercy of buddy's parents who had their camera which only lasted for a bit before it ran out of batteries so below is all you get. When they stepped out onto the ice both boys promptly ended up on their rear ends on the ice....and again...and again. I must say that the coaches and helpers for this event were amazing. By the end of the hour both boys could stay up by themselves and skate. They got to shoot the puck around. The Boss skated across the rink by himself before the time was up. I was one proud mom. They really made a lot of progress in that time. Both of them were asking if they could skate every Saturday. It was a real hit. They got to keep their jerseys and even got a ticket to watch an upcoming Aeros game. I need to write a note to the sponsor and to the rink because this was an awesome event and so well organized. Now I just have to find a way to get him some practice skating.

The Park

The other weekend we had such a glorious day outside we just had to go to the park. We have lots of parks in our area but one we like a lot is the League City Park. It is a special park that is totally handicap accessible. It is only a couple of years old and is really nice. It was not the Lady Bugs first trip to a park however it was her first trip to the park where she could actually partake in some of the fun. The Boss met some friends of his at the park from his previous school Bay Area Christian. It was nice to see all the boys. They had fun playing lots of chase. Lady Bus enjoyed walking around, sliding, playing the drums, and watching me blow bubbles. Here are a couple of pics from our trip.

Notice a theme of me always getting the back of the Lady Bug. She was constantly on the move.

Krewe Mardi Gras Parade

This year for the Krewe of Gambrinus Mardi Gras Parade in Galveston the theme was Commercials. Our float were the Serta Counting Sheep. It was so much fun. Must say the most memorable part of the parade this year was the chucky ladies in the hot tub on the flatbed of a truck along the parade route in 40 degree weather. Here are a couple of pics from the parade. Enjoy!

First Dance

The Boss had a Family Dance at his school to raise money for play ground equipment. It was a whole lot of fun. He enjoyed running around with all of his friends and even found a little time to dance. Here are some of the highlights.

Even Lady Bug had fun eating pizza and playing with the glow sticks!
