Night Out

The kids have been pretty good lately. The Boss has been working really hard. He has been doing extra things to raise money for a bike. He is almost to his goal. He has also been spending a lot of time practicing his football skills and is really improving. Last weekend's game he got two tackles (pulled flags) and one of them was a sack. He also played a good game at center and tackle. In order to reward him for all of his hard work I thought that he would like to go to the movies. That boy loves the movies and we hardly ever go see any at the cinema. So last night we surprised him when his Dad got home with a trip to go watch Monsters University. So the boys had a night out leaving the girls to hang out. We decided to take a trip to the thrift store. I was looking to see if I could find a camera bag but no joy. I did however get the Lady Bug two cute little dresses.
The boys enjoyed the movie. The Boss liked it a lot more than Daddy but that is not surprising at all. The Boss is already making plans for his next movie trip.
Overall the boys had fun and the girls did too.

Along the Ride

Since the Boss has mastered riding his bike he wants to ride constantly. He rode every day that he didn't already have an activity scheduled.
He usually rides, Dad walks and I push the Lady Bug on her Tricycle. Getting her to peddle herself is next on the list. While she was on her ride and I was pushing we saw something familiar looking but small against the curb. I bent down to check it out... and it moved. I was a little surprised. It was in a bad spot so I picked it up and put it in the back of the tricycle. He went for a little ride before we set him in a much more friendly environment for the little fellow. Both kids were so excited to set him in a better spot they wanted him to rush right down to the water right away. I had to tell them that they just don't move that fast and that he would make it in his own time but that he was in a much better place than before. Of course the Boss wanted to bring him home instead and keep him as a pet but I figured he be better off in the outdoors.

We Have A New Rider In the Family

A bike rider that is! This weekend we finally spent enough time for the Boss to learn to ride his bike without any assistance or training wheels. I know some of you are thinking boy he is old to just be learning to do that but you would be wrong. Once I got pregnant with Lady Bug all bike riding ceased and his poor little bike sat unused in the garage. This past year we took the training wheels off and tried it out. He was doing alright but hadn't quite got the hang of it when his Dad went into the hospital. Once again bike riding was less of a priority. Fast forward to the last weekend in April his fellow Cub Scouts wanted to go on a Den bike ride. His Dad and I were a bit bummed that he would not be able to because we hadn't taught him how to do it yet.
So this past weekend his Dad took him out for a ride after much prompting from me that he should take his bike and not his scooter. With some tough love from Dad to not give up he nailed it. He is now riding like a champ and wants to ride constantly.
So I am proud of The Boss my new bike rider.
Now we just have to go get him a new bike since his wheel base is about 4inches too short for his height.

Big Girl Bed

Our little Lady Bug is growing up so fast. This weekend we put together the toddler bed for her. We would have done it sooner but I couldn't find the hardware. (You think I would have kept all the parts together. I guess I put it in a place I would remember later. Oops!)
She loves her new big girl bed and has been going to sleep without a problem.

Her big brother has enjoyed the new bed too. Last night I found them both in the bed reading Christmas mini-board books. Then a few minutes later I found him asleep in her bed.

Our Purple Champion

This weekend the Boss had a karate tournament. We are proud to say he won his match against a second degree purple belt (he is a first degree purple).

Our Little Lady Bug Turns Two

Family Meet and Great

The Boss went and stayed a few days with his Pop Pop and Grand B in Oklahoma over the last week of his Winter Break. He had a blast. It snowed while he was there and he was in hog heaven.

After enjoying a week with Camden and Ellie, Pop Pop returned him to us and Auntie Shyra and Uncle Gill came down to visit. It was a nice family get together. We did a little bit of January grilling.
