Appointment #4 (8-31-10)
Today was appointment #4 with Dr. Mundy. Arrived at the office, did my favorite part first and weighed in. LOL Then I got the usual stuff like blood pressure, etc. The big bummer was that when I got there I found out they had scheduled another appointment for me on Thursday at 12:30. No fun cause my first appointment on Thursday is at 8:15am. So I will have a lot of time to kill in between my appointments. Oh well!!! So then I talked to Dr. Mundy. He said baby M is measuring just fine and all looks well. We talked about an amnio and I declined. Then I waited for a bit for my ultrasound. It was the same lady that did it last time. You know the one in training. LOL She was a little fast this time but not much. Unlike last time there were not 2 ladies in the room there were 3 ladies in the room. Baby M got to put on a show for an audience. M was moving around a bit. Got a good view of the head, belly, legs and arms...but not the nether regions. Even when they tried to look. No so such luck. The little arms were just moving all over the place but the legs not so much. This little one was not giving up the goods. Which led the tech to think baby M is a little girl. A very modest or as Granny said a little shy one. We will know for sure in a few days...I think if the little one will cooperate. The ultrasound showed M is measuring well and the fluid level around little M is good as well. So now you all have to wait till Thursday for the detailed ultrasound.

Week 19 - Mango Baby
Hmmm... Mango that might be a name possibility. What do you think Mango Vige?
Week 19
Average Size
6.0 inches
8.5 oz
The baby's sensory development is exploding! M;s brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that M may be able to hear my voice now, so I shouldn't be shy about reading aloud, talking, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes me.
M weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a mango. Arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of the body now. The kidneys continue to make urine and hair on the scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on the skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

The 5th Birthday Party
If you get a chance please check out the pictures from Maddox's 5th birthday party. Even though it was a warm day we all had a great time. It was nice to see both friends and family. The food was awesome and the cake was super yummy as always. Maddox got showered with presents and I think all of the kids had a great time on the playground.

Week 18 - My Sweet Potato
Week 18
Average size 5.6 inches head to rump
Weighs around 6.7oz
Baby M has become amazingly mobile, passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that I feel those movements too. M's blood vessels are visible through thin skin, and ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from the head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around nerves, a process that will continue for a year after birth. If M's a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If M's a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound. Hopefully we will find out in just a few short weeks. Even though I see most of you have already decided M's a girl.

First Day of Kindergarten!
Today was the big day! Maddox started Kindergarten. I am not sure who was more excited me or him.
He did great this morning for drop off.
His teacher seems like a nice lady. He liked her as soon as he met her. I can't wait to get his report of how the day went. It was just surreal to bring him to school this morning. He is growing up so fast.
And after a long day at school he came straight home and...

I think I am... I think I am
I think that I have started to feel little M kicking. In this past week I have started getting these really weird feelings. At first I didn't think about them too much. Then I started to wonder what they were. Now they are happening frequently enough for me to think they are in fact M kicking. The reason why I questioned what the feeling could be was that it happens to be a little higher than I would expect the baby to be right now. I have done a bunch of reading online and now am pretty sure that is what is bumping me on the inside even if it is a little higher than I would think. I can't wait to be able to feel M kick from the outside. Maddox asks pretty often when he will be able to feel the baby. I can't wait till he feels it for the first time!

Today is the Boss's big day!
The Boss is Five years old today! So hard to believe. The time has really flown by. I can't believe he starts school next week. He is just growing up so fast. He just makes my heart melt. He has the most fun personality and a great imagination to match. He can make friends in the blink of an eye. One of the qualities I am most proud of is that he has a sweet, soft heart. He is so excited about becoming a big brother too! He even told me he will help change diapers. I can't wait to see if that will happen or not. Every day he surprises me with how independent he is becoming. My little boy is on his was to becoming a wonderful young man. I am truly blessed as a mother to have such a wonderful son. Happy Birthday Boss! Both your father and I truly love you and are enjoying every day with you.

Week 17 - My Little Turnip/Onion
Week 17
5.1 in
5.9 oz
M's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — the lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Fat is also finally starting to accumulate around the baby. Baby M weighs about 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip or onion), and M's around 5 inches long from head to bottom. Can move joints, and the sweat glands are starting to develop. Baby M's little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

Uncle Nate
Tonight we went to the hospital to say "Goodbye" to Uncle Nate. He is moving to Atlanta to a rehab facility for a bit. We sure will miss him and his family. Maddox has grown super attached to them all, but he especially loves his Uncle Nate. We decided while we were there to say Happy early Birthday to Maddox. Here is the group pic of all of us!
From Left to Right: Mr. Wilson, Miss Wendy, Uncle Nate, Max, Maddox and Mrs. Martha (I was taking the picture so just imagine me in there!)
Doesn't Nate look great! Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers!
We love you Uncle Nate and will miss having you close.

Appointment #3 - 8-10-10
Today was my third appointment with Dr. Mundy. This time I went by myself but if I would have known that I would have another ultrasound I would have brought the crew with me. Went in and did the regular stuff. Blood pressure, fluid check, Q&A with the doctor. All was well. Dr. Mundy said that little M is measuring right on date. After the meeting with him I got another ultrasound. It was nice to see baby M again. Got to see arms and hands move around. It was harder to see this time than the last but the ultrsound tech was in training so that might have been why. Baby M measures in at a whopping 6oz, which is a nice healthy baby. I got a nice long ultrasound as the lady was in training and was having some trouble getting the measurements. I didn't mind at all and told her to take her time. She kept saying him when she would refer to the baby so I asked if she knew something that I didn't know and she said no she didn't. I thought it was really funny. Every time she would say it the teaching technician would correct her to say baby instead of him. Well we should know for sure in about 3 weeks.
Below is one of the ultrasound images from today. It is M's head with face up.

Week 16
Week 16: Avocado
Average size: 5 in, 3.5 oz
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, M will double weight and add inches to his length. Right now, M's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 to 5 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. M's legs are much more developed, M's head is more erect than it has been, and the eyes have moved closer to the front of the head. The ears are close to their final position, too. Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. The patterning of the scalp has begun, though M's locks aren't recognizable yet. M's even started growing toenails. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, M's heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as the baby continues to develop.
