Week 39 - Today's the Day!

Baby M waiting to greet the world! She continues to build a layer of fat to help control her body temperature after birth, but it's likely she already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, a mini watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) The outer layers of her skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.
Can you believe this is the last maternity update? It is hard for me to believe and I am the one about to head to the hospital to deliver our sweet baby girl. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers today!

Signs Of The Impending Arrival Are Everywhere!

This past weekend things started popping up all over the house. Suddenly you can tell that we are expecting a baby in just a few short days.

Even though we wont need it for a while the high chair has returned to the kitchen.

The swing where the Boss spent many a happy moment is reassembled and awaiting a new occupant.

The pack n play has again taken up space in the living room. Where I am sure it will come in handy for naps and changings.

The very popular diaper station has been set up in the back bedroom. Not that I am really looking forward to all the diapering. The Boss did say that he would help though. I can't wait to see if he will give it a go.

And last but not least the bassinet where our sweet little one will spend (hopefully) a lot of time sleeping.
Do you think we are ready? I keep thinking we are missing something, but other than the baby I am not sure what.

Projects!!

Wanted to send a special shout out to Granny for finishing up the bassinet cover. It will go so nicely in our room and I totally love how it turned out. I am going to put a before and after picture so you can truly appreciate how great it looks.

Now onto the little project I whipped up last night. I decorated some burp cloths with the cutest fabric. I may just have to decorate all of them. So fun.

The Boss saw me typing and wanted to type some as well, so this message is typed by the Boss himself!
Hello everybody! Happy New Year

Step Right Up...Give it a Guess!

Alright we are reaching the end. My lovely sister Shyra thought it would be entertaining to poll her Facebook friends what weight they thought our baby would be. As most of you know the Boss weighed in at 9lbs 14oz at 38 weeks 5 days. If you have been reading my posts you know what Baby M measured at my appointment on Tuesday give or take a pound. So I have put up a poll on the side board of my blog for you all to vote the range you think Baby M will fall into. And for all of you that read this in email you have to actually go to the blog and click the icon. I will be so proud of you! Happy voting everyone and we will see where she falls in less than a week. Oh and if you really want to put a comment on this post with your exact weight prediction please feel free. I might have to give a small prize to the person who comes closest to the exact number. So if you make a guess on the blog you have a shot at something. You can leave the comment as Anonymous but make sure that you put your name in the subject so I know who to give the prize to. I know Shyra will guess. Lets see if she gets any competition.

Week 38 - Like a Leek

Baby M has really plumped up. She weighs about 6.8 pounds (7lbs 15oz)and she's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when I hold her hand for the first time! Fetal development is nearly complete as she tends to a few last-minute details like shedding the skin-protecting vernix and lanugo. She's also producing more surfactant, a substance that prevents the air sacs in her lungs from sticking to one another once she starts to breathe. Most of the changes this week are small but important: She’s continuing to add fat (so he can take advantage of all those photo ops by sporting a round, cute baby look!) and fine-tuning her brain and nervous system (so she can deal with all the stimulation that awaits her once she makes her entrance into the world). Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.

Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Can you believe that there is at the most only 1 week left until Baby M arrives!
Next week at this time we will be posting about meeting our new little girl.

Appointment #13 - The Last One!! (1-4-11)

Today was my final OB appointment of this pregnancy. Seems so weird to be this close to the end. Next week we will be a family of 4! Hard to believe it. I am really looking forward to meeting our little girl.
The appointment today was pretty routing except for the order of things. As soon as I got there I settled up with the business side of the house since my insurance changed with the new year so I needed to pay the deductible. Guess that would have been one perk to having her in December. It would have been cheaper. oh well!
Then as soon as I went back I met with Dr. Mundy as he was headed out to the hospital to deliver a baby right after he talked to me. He checked over my sugar numbers and was pleased with the results. He asked if she has been moving well and she has been wriggling around in there pretty often so I am pretty sure that is good. He said that I didn't have to come in for another appointment next week which is awesome. I just show up at the hospital on Thursday of next week or if I start to have contractions I head to the hospital then. He asked if I had any questions. I actually had 2...I wanted to make sure that there would be a pedi at the hospital to check out the baby since I am pretty sure that I wont get our pedi from League City to come check on us at the Med Center. He said that would not be a problem at all. The next question I had was what time he wanted us to report to the hospital. He gave us our check in time for our mid-day delivery so I think we are set.
After he headed out then the nurse came in and did all of the usual checking etc. Blood pressure was good. Weight was the exact same as last week. Hard to believe cause I feel 10lbs heavier than last week. Then I headed in for my last ultrasound. She has plenty of fluid. According to the Ultrasound tech she is low head down. She had to press really low to be able to get her head to come up so she could measure her. Believe it or not she is currently measuring 7lbs 15 oz ( give or take a pound in either direction). Which in my case I would think would be up and not down if any. So I am thinking anywhere from 7lbs 15oz to 8lbs 15oz. So what does this mean? It means I could end up with another 9lb baby. As long as she is healthy and everything goes well I will be extremely happy with another big baby.

Belated Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Meant to post this earlier but kept forgetting...
