We headed up to TN and MS for Spring break this year. We had lots of important people to visit. We left at midnight on Wednesday and stopped in LA to pick up Granny. We drove all night and arrived in Memphis, TN at 10am on Thursday. We had a full list of possible things we could do ahead of us. We checked into our hotel. It was really nice and right next to the Peabody hotel and right across the street from Autozone Park. We first decided the kids would enjoy seeing the ducks so we headed down the block to the Peabody. We had missed the ducks marching in (Maybe next time).
From there we were headed to Rendezvous BBQ to get some ribs. We got a little turned around and went the long way around when it was just down the block from the hotel as well. While we were there we found a new rib fan. Lady Bug loves ribs. Unfortunately the Boss who had really been looking forward to the ribs got a tummy ache and didn't eat.
The Boss wishing he felt better.
Daddy enjoying his lunch.

I think she liked them...
Once we left our lunch destination everyone was beat, but we decided to check out the ball park before we headed back to the hotel for naps.
Once everyone was rested it was time to start the visiting part of our trip. We headed to my college roommate's house. I couldn't wait to see her little girl. She is just the cutest thing. She has the sweetest cheeks you just want to squeeze them like Charmin. I was so looking forward to meeting her finally and to catching up with Butter and her husband. I was so excited about our visit that I forgot my camera and don't have a single picture of us all together. We hung out and ate pizza. The Boss watched a little TV while the two little girls played with toys. We didn't realize it had been so long since we had seen eachother until we were there and comparing stories. It had been 8 years...Since Butter and John had gotten married in Memphis. Time really does fly. They were so sweet to have us over for dinner. We could have stayed all night but they both had work the next day so we headed back to the hotel. The kids both crashed in the car on the way back so we drove around a little to take in the sights of downtown Memphis at night. One of our favorite sights was the Giant M...wonder why?
We then got the kids in bed and Granny said she would watch them while we went out and had some adult time.
So we headed out to Beale St. and enjoyed a little of the night life with a piano bar. This day was a great start to our trip.

Strawberry Picking and a Tip for Freezing.
The Boss and I decided it would be fun to do a little strawberry picking at Froeberg Farms. It was fun. Always nice to spend some time with my little man.
The only down side was the field was a bit muddy and we had to wash our shoes afterwards.
There were lots of strawberries. We filled our buckets in no time flat.
Here is my Pinterest type tip of the day for strawberries or any other fruit. Lay them out on a cookie sheet individually then put them in the freezer for an hour. Pull them out and pop them into a plastic bag or container and they will not stick together. Perfect for just using a few berries at a time. We use ours to make smoothies.

Pinterest Anyone?
I heart Pinterest. I visit almost daily and have gotten some really great ideas. I have tried out a bunch of different things I have seen and pinned. I am thinking of putting a section on the blog of things I have tried. First off one that we tried out this weekend for breakfast. I had seen similar things on Pinterest and last weekend a close family friend and patient who caters had brought some breakfast croissants to Daddy's office. They were ham, cheese and a pepper jelly croissant. Very yummy and everyone ate them up so I thought I would give them a whirl this weekend. Very easy and tasty. I used ham, white cheddar for half of them and the other half I added a little blackberry jelly. Cause that is what I like.
I thought they were both yummy and would definitely do them again. Here are some pictures from our experiment of the finished product.

Our Lorax Trip
Our trip to see the Lorax was bumped around a little over the weekend. We finally ended up going tonight with our neighbors. We all loved the movie. So good. I think it will be a purchase once it comes out on DVD. Here is a picture of the boys after the show sporting some Lorax Love.
If you haven't seen the movie yet...What are you waiting for?

Do You Swing?
The Boss decided it was time to try out the swing in the back yard. He wanted to show us how he didn't need anyone to push him anymore. He can do it all on his own. The only problem...it wasn't his swing it was the Lady Bug's swing.
Once we convinced him to let her have a turn he did a good job pushing her.
She enjoyed it at first and gave some good belly laughs but in the end she wasn't a big fan of how high he was pushing her and wanted to get off.

Celery Anyone?
We have been trying to get more veggies in our diet. So the other day when the Boss and I were chomping on a veggie tray the Lady Bug decided she had to try some too. First she at the stem on some broccoli, not the floret...the stem. Then she toyed with a carrot but it ended up on the floor. She finally decided that celery was the real winner. She ate the entire stalk of celery.
Excuse the pics she was sitting on my lap when I took them and she wasn't a fan of the flash in her face.

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!
Last night we had Family Literacy Night at the Boss's school. Each grade K-5 had a teacher read one of the Dr. Suess books to the families that went. It was a nice even that they had a long with the book fair. We bought 3 new books that the Boss was super excited about. We listened to part of the Cat in the Hat and the Lorax. We were there for all of the Oh, Places You'll Go! and the Foot Book. After the reading of the books they gave away a bunch of Suess books as door prizes. He was bummed he didn't win, but was excited to get to take a picture with The Cat in the Hat.
